In order to foster a symbiotic relationship and form a formidable alliance in environmental conservation and other agro-climatic issues, the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES), Kwara State Chapter has today paid a courtesy call to the office of the Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL).

The visit was aimed at strengthening the concerted bid to address climate issues and enhance inter-institutional cooperation between ACReSAL and other professional bodies in the State.

The State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe, while welcoming the team, highlighted some of the intervention activities of the project in the State, including the "Lata Grazing Reserve" which was aimed at addressing the farmers-herders conflict.

He disclosed that the project was designed to support the State through the provision of waste management equipment, adding that all the objectives and core mandate of NES are the same with the "project development objectives" (PDO) of ACReSAL.

According to Aregbe, "in the areas of water sanitation, agricultural development and environmental protection, ACReSAL is serving the same purpose and objectives with the same focus as NES," assuring them of the needed partnership.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, NES, Kwara State Chapter, Dr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju Ibrahim, explained that the core mandate of NES was to investigate the historical review of environmental issues and proffer lasting solutions to them as well as address the menace of massive waste generation, land degradation, deforestation and other related climate issues.

Dr. Ibrahim also emphasized that they were in ACReSAL to build synergy with the project and all its core MDAs for the preservation of the heritage of Kwarans.

He noted that NES is collaborating with some other agencies in the State, reiterating the need for the partnership with ACReSAL, especially in the areas of reclamation and restoration of degraded lands in the interest of future generations.
