Road Encroachment: KWSG Engages Stakeholders on Compliance

In a bid to stop road encroachment and curb the incessant havoc that usually arise as a result of the menace, the Kwara State Government has again engaged relevant stakeholders to rub minds and find a lasting solution to the problem in the State. 

The State Commissioner for Environment, Mallam Sheu Ndanusa Usman, made this known during a stakeholders engagement on road encroachment held at the conference hall of the Ministry, today.

According to him, "His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed all concerned Ministries and Agencies to effect compliance on road encroachment and allow free movement of vehicles and residents in all major market across the State". 

He therefore enjoined the marketers and other stakeholders to join hands with the present administration in its bid to eradicate road encroachment and turn Ilorin metropolis to a modern city as envisaged in the Kwara State Development Master Plan. 

In his remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duty, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah reiterated the commitment of the present administration to continue to prioritize the welfare of the people, especially, marketers in the state.

He also said efforts were on going to build more modern markets that would accommodate more marketers, assuring the currently dislodged marketers in post office and other areas to immediately apply to the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology for new allocations. 

Alhaji Jiddah also warned those harbouring shops across the market to immediately open them for use or be ready to forfeit such to the State Government. 

He however, appealed to the marketers and other road users to warn their members to desist from encroaching on roads in their various markets or face the full wrath of the law.

Earlier, both the Babaloja and Iyaloja General of Kwara state, Alhaji Abdullahi Saad and Alhaja Sidikat Akaje appreciated His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unrelenting efforts at turning Kwara to a modern State.

The market leaders however, pleaded with the State government to create alternative spaces as temporary market for the dislodged marketers and compelled the owners of unused shops to vacate them or rent them out to serious users. 

Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the representatives of the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Ministry of Communications and the Kwara Geographical Information Sciences. 

Others were members of the Nigeria Police Force, the Special Assistant on Grassroots and Sanitation, Special Assistant on Environmental Protection, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, among others.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024.
