Ministry Commemorates World Hand Hygiene Day

In commemoration of year 2024 World Hand Hygiene Day, Kwara State Ministry of Health has  underscored the critical importance of hand hygiene in combating the spread of diseases, notably diarrhea and respiratory infections, to avoid outbreak of epidemics in the state and environs.

 The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, who led the rally, at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Fate Road, Ilorin today, emphasized the importance of hand washing in disease prevention, urging parents to prioritize hand hygiene, to safeguard children's health. 

According to her, "Hand washing is One most effective measure against transmission of diseases. It is therefore crucial to maintain household hygiene, through regular hand washing, to avoid an outbreak of diseases, in whatever form, to enhance a healthy society."

She stressed further that, "the Ministry's proactive efforts at raising public awareness include the weekly radio MidLand  99.1fm program titled, "Kwara Health Gist," where topics like hand hygiene are discussed, in the interest of all.

El-Imam therefore urged citizens to tune to Midland 99.1 fm every Wednesday at 10:00 AM for accurate health information.

In his own remarks,  Director of Public Health,  Dr. Oluwatosin  Fakayode, related the significance of commemorating the day to promoting the awareness of hand hygiene, negligence of which could trigger epidemics, with dire consequences, in any given society. 

Highlights of the commemoration was the demonstration of proper hand washing techniques, conducted at locations, including  State Ministry of health, Fate Primary and Secondary School, Ilorin, as well as residential areas of the community, to impact citizens with the required knowledge of maintaining hands hygiene.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
