KWSG RENOVATES HOSTELS, BURNT LABORATORY AT EDUCATION RESOURCE CENTRE

(Renovated burnt laboratory at Ministry of Education Resource Centre at Tanke, Ilorin South LGA)

The Kwara State Government has completed the renovation of hostels at the Kwara State School for Special Needs and the burnt laboratory at Kwara State Ministry of  Education Resource Centre, reiterating its commitment to promoting conducive environment for teaching and learning to improve academic performance across the state.

The  State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, stated this during a tour to selected schools across Ilorin East, Ilorin West and Asa Local Government Areas.

The Commissioner handed over the newly completed Boys Hostels A & B and Girls Hostels A & B at the Kwara State School for Special Needs, Ilorin and inspected the newly renovated burnt laboratory of Kwara State Ministry of Education Resources Centre (ERC) located at Tanke, in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the State.

Hajia Modibbo Kawu explained that the State government will not rest on its oars to ensure conducive environment for learning, explaining that learning can not take place in a shabby environment.

She added that the present administration's huge investment in the education sector has  continued to yield positive results, while welcoming students, who recently transferred from private schools.

The Commissioner urged the management and staff of the school to guide government's properties in their domains and use them judiciously. 

Hajia Modibbo Kawu maintained that the present administration, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is determined to give the best to students and will not allow anything to jeopardize the interest.

The Commissioner also inspected the recently completed drainage and erosion control, interlocking of the school compound, drainage retaining wall at Eruda LGEA School, St Michael School B where construction of a block of 6 classrooms, an office and a block of two classrooms are ongoing.

Hajia Modibbo Kawu charged the contractors handling various projects to adhere strictly with specifications and ensure the completion of the projects in accordance with the timeframe.

Other schools visited are: Abata Shuban Secondary School, Senior Secondary School, Gaa-Odota and Senior Secondary School, Ago-Oja where various construction works are ongoing.

The  Commissioner also visited selected primary schools such as Isale-Maliki Primary School, St. Micheal School B L.G.E.A, Eruda L.G.E.A Primary School, Ilorin West and Gaa-Odota L.G.E.A Primary School, to assess the KwaraLearn  programme delivery in the classrooms.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the Principal of the Kwara State School for Special Needs, Alhaji Ganeey Ayodeji Olododo, applauded the Governor for his laudable achievements in making  education accessible for the physically challenged individuals.

He said that the Governor's achievements in the school is worth celebrating and prayed for God's guidance in all his endeavours.
