ENERGY TRANSITION: KWSG TO PARTNER WITH P-CNGi ON CLEANER ENVIRONMENT

The Kwara State Government has affirmed its commitment to partner with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi) on cleaner environment, as a palliative to cushion the aftermath of removal of fuel subsidy by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. AbdulAzeez Kola AbdulGaniy, stated this at the North Central 2 and South West 2 Stakeholder engagement event held today at the E-Phoenix Hotel, Ilorin, the State Capital. 

According to him, "Compressed natural gas is part of the most cleanest and cheapest fuel today and it reduces harmful emission which can lead to environmental hazards."

“Among other benefits of the CNG, it helps engines of cars to last longer, and it enables us to save money”, he added. 

The Commissioner noted that the partnership will also help to improve livelihoods of the citizenry, saying that by adopting the CNG, we are embracing a safe and healthy environment.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. AbdulQuawiyy Olododo, added that “the Kwara State Government, under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will commission the first Compressed Natural Gas Station on 29th May, 2024. Several efforts will also be rolled out for more conversion, training and fueling stations which will create more employment opportunities across the State."

Earlier, the Director Program, Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Engr. Micheal Oluwagbemi, commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this initiative, revealing that the initiative is to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal and a palliative to improve living standard of the citizens. 

The Business and Strategic Manager, Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Mrs. Omolara Obileye said “Lagos, Rivers, Kwara, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Enugu, Ekiti, Nassarawa and Kogi States are presently part of the States to benefit from this phase of the presidential incentives and steps." 

The Global Vice President of the International Transport Federation, Alhaji Najim Yasin, appreciated President Bola Tinubu, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and all stakeholders on this great initiative, assuring them of their unwavering support at all times.

Also present were Former Senior Special Adviser to President Buhari, Mr. Tolu Ogunlesi, Ondo State Commissioner for Transport, Ekiti State Special Adviser on Transport, Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers, Road Transport Employer Association of Nigeria among others.
