NCS: KWSG SEEKS PARTNERSHIP TO ENHANCE HEALTHY LIVING OF THE VULNERABLE GROUPS

In its quest to promote a sustainable development and healthy standard of living of inmates in the welfare homes, the Kwara State Government has sought for working synergy with the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara State Command, Ilorin Headquarters.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, established this during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, Ilorin Headquarters, recently.

Hon. Afolashade, who appreciated the warm reception accorded her team, highlighted the crucial needs for the two offices to syndicate efforts towards promoting a viable social standard and a safer environment, especially, for the vulnerable and the less privileged.

"We are here this morning for a courtesy visit and to form synergy with the establishment as the Ministry is saddled with lots of responsibilities and needs help in form of donations to the various home under the Ministry", the Commissioner said.

While highlighting some of the prevalent social menace facing the teeming youths, Hon. Afolashade urged the State Customs Command not to relent in its efforts in assisting the Ministry in the fight against human trafficking.

She further emphasized that the present administration is working assiduously to ensure a better welfare of the vulnerable groups, people with disabilities and the less privileged, while assuring that the AbdulRazaq-led administration will continue to impact their lives positively.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ayanwale Peter Kayode, also appreciated the warm reception accorded them, enjoining them to contribute their widow's mite towards the welfare of the vulnerable groups, less privileged and the people living with disabilities.

Responding, the Comptroller of the Area Command, Comptroller Faith Matthew Ojeifo, thanked the Ministry for making out time to pay a courtesy visit to the Customs office and promised to ensure a favourable feedback to the Ministry.

Present at the meeting were the Director, Personnel, Finance and supply, Mrs. Balogun Florence; Director, Social Welfare, Mr. James Kayode David; Director Rehabilitation, Mr. Taiye Ikupolati; Deputy Director, Social Welfare, Alhaja Abibat Yusuf; and all other senior staff of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ilorin headquarters.
