KWSG Reiterates Commitment To Livestock Development

...as French govt. presents report on modernization of Lata Grazing Reserve.

The Kwara State Government has again reiterated its commitment to the development of livestock sector through adequate funding and purposeful partnership with development partners.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq stated this while declaring open a 2-day presentation of the report on the Lata Grazing Reserve by French BRL Ingenierie Consulting Company in Ilorin.

Mallam AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Senior Adviser and Councillor, Alhaji Sa'ad Salahu said the present administration's partnership with French Government represents a significant stride towards comprehensive modernization of the Lata Grazing Reserve in Patigi Local Government Area of the State.

According to the Governor, "the expertise and resources of our French company will bring sustainability to this project, their collaboration is invaluable as we work together to achieve our goals".

The Governor said the present government will continue to prioritize peaceful environment by addressing fundamental needs of both herders and crop farmers to have access to good water source and quality animal feeds with a view to preventing conflict, enhancing and promoting harmonious co-existence within the communities.

He further urged all the participants to actively engage, share insights, explore innovative solutions, exchange knowledge, ideas and best practices to achieve the targeted purpose.

In her welcome address, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas commended the great job done during the feasibility study of the grazing reserve and noted that it was meticulously carried out with the best global practices.

She explained that the recommendations of the report have been read and the execution was being discussed with the relevant stakeholders, especially in light of ongoing livestock projects in the state. She described the workshop as a brilliant idea that would bring the stakeholders to unanimously work together to come up with a road map to make the execution seamless.

The Regional Agriculture Councillor, French Embassy, Abuja, Dr. Sonia Darracq expressed delight to be part of the team that started the journey some years back and reflected on some of the achievements of the team.

She however called for honest opinions from the stakeholders on the implementation of their findings, adding that the French government would not only fund the first phase of the project but will also be involved in the implementation phase.

She added that for the project to be properly implemented to meet the needs of the Lata community, proper coordination and contributions of other Institutions and international donors and programmes such as SAPZ, L-PRES, and RAAMP, was needed.

It would be recalled that the Kwara State Government had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the French Government on the development of the Lata Grazing Reserve to global standard.

Participants at the Programme included; Traditional Rulers, SSA on Community Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe; Representatives of relevant Ministries and Agencies, Representative of L-PRES National Coordination Office, Mr. Wasiu Adeoye; State Coordinator L-PRES Project, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye; State Coordinator SAPZ Project, Engr (Dr.) Busari Isiaka Toyin; State Coordinator, RAAMP Project, Engr. (Dr.) Isaac Kolo; Executive Director, ARMTI, Dr. Olufemi Oladunni, Former Kwara NVMA Chairman, Dr. Saka Shittu, among others.

Highlights of the programme were; the presentation of findings on the Lata Grazing Reserve Project, Syndicate group discussions and their recommendations as well as contributions from development partners in the State.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
