KWSG Reaffirms Commitment to Effective Communications

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that Kwarans are included in its developmental initiatives, even as it pledged to deliver information directly at doorsteps, to keep people abreast of government activities.

The State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, stated this in Ilorin during the week, while hosting representatives of the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Kawu, in the board room of the ministry.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammad, outlined the government's efforts at keeping the public informed about state affairs.

"The Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman, Nigeria Governors' Forum, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has significantly improved information dissemination in the state, by revitalizing state-owned media. To this end, Kwara Television Authority has expanded its coverage and enriched its programming with local content, to reach even the grassroots.

In the same vein, Olukoju reaffirmed that "Radio Kwara has been restored to its former glory as the best radio station for information and additional Frequency Modulator stations, such as Okuta FM in Kwara North and Kakakin FM, Ilorin, have been commissioned by the current administration. Kudos to our action Governor AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq.

"Although there is progress, we acknowledge that we have not yet reached our desired destination, but be rest assured that, we are no longer where we used to be," She added.

Earlier in his remarks, the team lead, Tafidan Lafiagi, Alhaji Abubakar Bello Mohammed, emphasized the considerable revenue potential in Edu Community, due to the emergence of new companies in that part of Kwara North.

"We have significant revenue prospects, particularly with the growing industrial presence of BUA Sugar and other related commercial enterprise in the area.

Alhaji Mohammed however highlighted the missing out on state government updates in Lafiagi Emirates and the Nupe Community at large as a major challenge. He therefore appealed to the state government to rehabilitate and establish KwaraTV and a dedicated radio station, to address this gap.
