Gov AbdulRazaq Receives Encomiums from Beneficiaries as Kwara Fadama CARES Monitors Assets Distributed

... Exercise to Ensure Judicious Utilisation of Asset Items - Busari

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), has received encomiums from different categories of beneficiaries of the recent agricultural asset disbursement by the Kwara Fadama CARES.

The commendations came from the farmers/beneficiaries in all the LGAs across the State during the Internal and Third Party Monitoring exercises carried out by the Kwara Fadama CARES to ensure that proper use of the agricultural assets distributed were maintained.

It should be recalled that the State Government, through Kwara Fadama CARES, performed the third intervention to the poor and vulnerable farmers in the State last week, with the farmers receiving farm assets including knapsack sprayers with PPE (Personal Protecrion Equipment), Fish Smoking Kilns, Rain Gun Sprinlers, Water Pumping Machines with accessories, Poutry Feeders and Drinkers, Small Ruminants, Maize shellers and Soya Beans Threshers.

Speaking on the internal and the third party monitoring exercises, the State Project Coordinator, Engr. Dr. Busari Toyin Isiaka Isiaka, said that the exercise was necessary to find out the situation of usage of the items by the beneficiaries and to instil in the farmers the culrure of proper maintenance of the assets.

Busari noted that, "My office carried out the monitoring exercise to ensure that the asset items given to farmers in the State are judiciously utilised. First, this will discourage the commercialisation of the agricultural assets. It will also advocate the importance of maintenance culture in any support provided by the government.

"In fact, the exercise was as crucial as the intervention because this is what will make the items useful for the farmers and society at large. What this administration has done in terms of agricultural intervention is huge and applaudable. So, the social impact of this initiative must be visible as people's lives are expected to be transformed for better.

He disclosed that the data obtained during the exercise would form a strong basis for the IVA (Independent Verification Agent) report since the Fadama officers and engaged third party monitors have gone to the field with Utilisation Support Template to ascertain the usage situation of the items distributed.

Beneficiaries across the State have drummed praises for His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for what they described as a timely intervention to cushion the hardship in the country.

Sidikat Mogaji, one of the beneficiaries of the recent disbursement, had this to say, "I am one of Ifesowapo FUG (Farmers' User Group) in Ilorin West LGA, our farm is in Oloje area, Ilorin. We are both dry and raining season farmers. Our group received a Water Pumping Machine with accessories from Kwara Fadama CARES. We are grateful for this support. Our testimony with Governor AbdulRazaq is marvellous. No government, in the past, has reached out to farmers like this before. Every intervention he has been doing is making our farming easier. We thank him greatly. "

Also, Alfa Mohammed of Ankuri FUG from Patigi LGA confessed that the support his group and other farmers in the LGA have been receiving from the Kwara State Government has improved their farm productivity and jump-started their economy.

Likewise, Mr. Abolarin Adekunle of Omoladun FUG from Ekiti LGA, whose group received Knapsack Sprayers with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), commended the Governor for the developmental projects he has brought to Ekiti LGA, especially the Governor's passion towards transforming the lives of Ekiti people through agricultural empowerment, expressing the people’s gratitude to the present administration and praying for the Governor.

While affirming that with the administration of AbdulRazaq, farming in Ekiti has taken a new good dimension, Adekunle used the medium to urge the Governor to continue with his interventions.

Apart from the LGAs mentioned above, famers from the other LGAs of the State were not left behind, they explained that Governor AbdulRazaq has exposed farmers in the State to the secret and path to prosperity through agricultural investment.
