KWSG DISTRIBUTES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO SCHOOL FOR SPECIAL NEEDS

The Kwara State Government has distributed educational materials to the Kwara State School for Special Needs, Ilorin, to boost teaching and learning in the school.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa'adatu Modibbo Kawu, presented the educational materials and furniture yesterday at the Kwara State School for Special Needs premises in Ilorin.

Hajia Modibbo explained that the effort is geared toward the State Government's agenda to provide all materials that would enhance teaching and learning for both teachers and students.

She added that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's administration places emphasis on quality education for children with special needs, assuring that the State government will not rest on its oars in accomplishing the set goals.

The Commissioner maintained that the furniture and the set of instructional materials distributed to the School will no doubt go a long way to address the problem of inadequate learning facilities in the school.

While enumerating efforts of the the current administration in restoring the lost glory of education in the State, Hajia Modibbo maintained that the government had in the last five years overhauled the State education sector.

The Commissioner therefore, advised the Principal of benefiting school to ensure even distribution of the materials to the students, while appealing to the benefiting students to also make judicious use of the materials to justify government's intention.

Responding, the Principal of the School for Special Needs , Alhaji Olododo Ganeey Ayodeji, applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his laudable achievements in revamping education sector in the State.

He thanked the State government for making the environment of the school conducive for teaching and learning, saying the management and students would remain grateful to the Governor.
 
The items distributed included: Pekin brailler, braille boards and cards, textbooks for primary, secondary and the intellectually impaired students, educational toys and charts, flash cards, drum sets and musical instruments, double desks, building blocks, sign language texts, abacus, plasma TV with DVD and MP players, lawn mower and drugs for the school clinic.
