KWSG COMMISSIONS MULTI- MILLION NAIRA LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROJECTS IN KWARA CENTRAL

The Kwara State Government in its untiring efforts to further enhance lives of Kwarans and its inhabitants has commissioned Multi-Million Naira projects embarked on and completed recently by Local Government Councils in Kwara Central Senatorial district, namely Asa, Ilorin West, Ilorin South and Ilorin East, respectively.

The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (CON) described the commissioning of the projects as a landmark achievement which can be attested to by the large turn out of benefiting Communities to show appreciation during the commissionings.

The Executive Governor who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru described the choices of the projects as true reflection of the yearning of the People who had been denied the dividends of democracy by successive administrations in the State.
The Executive Governor who could not contain his joy over the projects attributed it to the financial autonomy enjoyed by all the Councils in the administration of their resources and most importantly, the free hand given to them in the choices of their projects based on the request of their respective communities within their domains.

Speaking on the electrification projects in Yowere, Asa Local Government Area, Mallam Abdulrazaq expressed his appreciation to the Council Management Team who had committed a huge sum of amount to the level of commissioning, he however implored the benefiting communities to ensure they guard the projects against vandals assuring them of more developmental projects in the Community.

Similarly, at the Commissioning of the newly constructed Multi-Million Naira Women's Vocational Centre by the Ilorin West Local Government Council, the Governor expressed satisfaction and commended the Management Team of the Council in its efforts to create an avenue for its citizens to be trained in vocational skills.

Mallam Abdulrazaq disclosed that the State Government had invested so much in projects targeted at training of youths and women from being job seekers to job creators, in order to tame the menace of unemployment in the State.

In her good will message at Yowere electrification projects, Honourable Member representing Owode - Onire in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rukayat Motunrayo Shittu thanked the State Government for providing enabling environment for the Local Government Councisl to operate which can be attested to not only in the commissioning but with the numerous capital projects embarked on and completed by the present Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Members.

Hon Rukayat further disclosed that aside her numerous empowerment programs aimed at assisting her Constituents, the 10th Assembly would continue to come up with enabling laws to further assist the citizens.

On his part, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Honourable Abdullahi Abubakar Bata thanked the State Government for repositioning the Councils in the State not only in salary payment alone, but empowering them to embark on capital projects with direct bearing on the benefiting communities.

The Honourable Commissioner disclosed that the Ministry under his purview had recently completed the inspection of projects by all the Councils and he was pleased with the observations raised.

In their separate remarks , the Chairman of Asa Local Government Council, Hon Abdulganiyu Saad stressed that Electrification project would connect many Communities across the districts .

Similarly, the Ilorin West Local Government Boss, Hon Omotosho AbdulGafar appreciated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the opportunity given to them to contribute to the development of their locality.

The Chairman of Ilorin South, Hon Zubair Gambari and his counterpart from Ilorin East, Hon Ayobami seriki mentioned that all the projects executed by them were mainly requested by benefiting Communities and assured the remaining communities with similar requests to exercise patience as they would be attended to in earnest.

Among the projects commissioned were: the drilling of a motorized bore-hole at Isale-Koto in Ilorin South and the construction of a Primary Health Centre at Alalubosa in Ilorin East Local Government Council Area.

Dignitaries present at the commissioning were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chiftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Mrs Iyabo Modupe Adekeye, Director Local Government Affairs, Mrs Akande Christiana, among others.
