KWSG LAUNCHES EMBLEM APPEAL FUND TO MARK 2024 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY

As part of efforts to commemorate the gallantry services of the war veterans and honour the fallen heroes in the State, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has launched the Emblem Appeal Fund to mark the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, which was held at the Ministry of Social Development yesterday, is an annual event set aside to appreciate the exceptional commitment and valiant heart of statemanship, by the Ex-Servicemen who laid down their lives in the lines of their duties to the country.

Speaking at the event, Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq noted that "It is with a great sense of duty to our dear country that I am here this morning to launch the Armed Forces Remembrance/Emblem Appeal Fund. This event marks the beginning of a week long programme organized annually to commemorate the gallantry of our war veteran and honour our fallen heroes."
 
The Governor stated that his administration acknowledges the invaluable contributions of the Ex-Servicemen and women towards the protection of the nation's territorial integrity, maintenance of peace, unity and progress, hence, saluted the courage, patriotism, and selfless sacrifices rendered.

He commended the efforts of all members of the legion, not only for the security expertise but also for making it a point of duty to mobilize funds annually to support the incapacitated colleagues and their families, adding that his administration will always give support to them as the fallen heros and heroines in accordance with the available resources.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, thanked the State Governor for his chivalrous attitude in providing required support to the success of the event.

Hon. Afolashade emphasized on the exigent need to celebrate and remember the fallen heroes and the incapacitated Ex-Servicemen for their meritorious and laudable services rendered in the war front, communal clashes, amongst others, of which many lost their lives and others rendered incapacitated, hence deserved to be extolled and decorated.

The Commissioner however, solicited mite for the Ex-Servicemen's widows and other officers who were victims of war's fatality.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Ayanwale Peter Kayode, extolled the Governor on his numerous humanitarian strides, saying the event and the cash donation given are indeed one of its kind.

The Chaiman of the Legion, Rt. Brig. Gen. AbdulKadir Anigiobi, appreciated the State government for always prioritizing the plight of the Ex-Servicemen and the incapacitated.

He appealed to the State government and all well-meaning indigines for continued support, especially, in areas of accommodations and official vehicles, adding that the fund raised, will provide huge relief to members.

Another highlight of the event was the emblem decoration of the Governor, members of the Armed Forces and Legion and some of the Executive members present at the occasion.

Also at the event were the Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bola Olukoju; Commissioner for Tertiary Educations, Dr Mary Arinde; the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye and other important dignitaries.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
