PROJECTS EXECUTION: COMMISSIONER COMMENDS ILORIN EAST AND SOUTH LGAs


The Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of Ilorin East and South Local Government Areas, and their respective Management Teams, have been commended for acceding to the yearnings and aspirations of the people in the choices of projects executed in various Communities within the two Councils.

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata made the commendation at the commencement of inspection of projects executed by the 16 Local Government Councils in the State, at Oke-Oyi and Fufu Secretariats, Ilorin East and South Local Government Areas respectively.

Hon. Bata expressed satisfaction with what he saw at the project sites of the two Councils, describing the testimonies of the benefiting communities as overwhelming with clear happiness and appreciation for the provision of the projects.

According to him, the idea of committing huge funds to community-driven projects was an indication of the Councils untiring commitments to the welfare of the people of the benefiting communities.

The Commissioner disclosed further that all the developmental efforts by the two Councils were made possible by the present administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), for ensuring autonomy in the Councils.

He also praised the governor for appropriating sufficient funds, and the free will granted the Councils to make choices of their projects based on the submission of Communities requests.

In thier separate remarks, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen of Ilorin East and South, Hon. Ayobami Seriki and Hon. Zubair Gambari appreciated the Commissioner for his guidance and advice, adding that the template provided by him through which the Councils were provided with funds, have assisted a lot in terms of the much expected dividends of democracy. 

Among the projects inspected in Ilorin East Local Government, were the construction and installation of Motorised Borehole at Oke-Oyi Community Secondary School, completion of Alalubosa Health Centre and the sinking of a Motorised Borehole, construction of three numbers of Box Culverts and retaining walls at Igba Were community, along Harmony Road, Renovation of a block of 2-Classrooms with an Office at L.G.E.A Primary School, Akerebiata, among others.

Projects inspected in Ilorin South included procurement and installation of 300/11 KVA Transformer, and Electrification of Temidire Community, along Alagbado Specialist Hospital, Reconstruction of 2 numbers of Classrooms at Model L.G.E.A School, Procurement and installation of 100/11 KVA Transformer and Electrification of Olufadi Cottage Hospital, and drilling and installation of Motorised Borehole at Marikaz Darul Ullum, Isale-Koto.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye and Directors, among other officials of the Ministry.
