LG PROJECT MONITORING: COMMUNITIES EULOGIZE COUNCIL BOSS

The Chairman of Asa Local Government Council, Hon. Abdulganiyu Saad has been commended for the laudable projects executed in the various communities within the Council Area since his assumption of office.

The representatives of various communities made the commendation when the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata and other officials paid assessment visits on project monitoring to the communities to ascertain compliance with project specifications.

The Magaji Eleyele, Alhaji Ambali Eleyele in his appreciation, thanked the Council Boss for coming to their rescue through the procurement of 300/33KVA Transformer, and the erection of 33 concrete poles along Eleyele and Ako Pari communities to connect to the national grid.

The Magaji disclosed that the entire community would forever be grateful to the government, noting that for over 40 years of his being on the throne, several letters of appeal had been written to successive administrations without any positive response to address their plight.

The story was also not different at the inspection of electrification project at Sosoki/Yowere, where over 33 communities will be connected to the national grid.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mallam Jamiu Babatunde expressed appreciation to the Council Boss for fulfilling his earlier promise on the connection of their communities to the national grid, aside the earlier provision of motorized boreholes to several communities within the area.

After inspecting a few other projects in Asa Local Government, the Inspection Team moved to Ilorin West Local Government Council, where the Commissioner visited the newly constructed Motorized Borehole at Oke-Foma Area densely populated by Students of Alhikma University.

While showing appreciation for the timeliness of the project, a student of the institution, Fatimoh Lawal thanked the state government on behalf of residents of the area, for remembering them in the  provision of potable Water supply.

She recounted the challenges faced by the students in the past in search of potable water for domestic use. 

"Even though we have manual borehole in our hostel, it is still grossly inadequate to meet our  domestic use, but the presence of the Motorized borehole has greatly eased our sufferings, especially during the dry season period", Fatimoh Lawal added.

Other projects visited by the inspection team include installation of 5nos. Solar Street lights along Oke-Foma community and the newly constructed and equipped Vocational Centre at Abata Shuban in Alanamu area.

In his remarks, the Commissioner thanked the two Chairmen for being good ambassadors of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq by responding promptly to the yearnings and aspirations of the people at the grassroots level.

Hon. Bata, who disclosed that he was overwhelmed with the large turn out of representatives of the benefiting communities, implored them to guide the facilities jealously against vandals, assuring them to exercise patience as more developmental projects would be provided as soon as more funds were available.

The Commissioner thanked the people for the confidence reposed in the present administration, which they have demonstrated through their overwhelming votes for the party in the last general elections.

In their remarks, the Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, Hon. Abdulgafar Mukhtar Omotosho, and his counterpart from Asa Local Government, Hon. Abdulganiyu Saad, both expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his support, and most importantly, his interest in interacting with the people of the benefiting communities to get first hand information on the projects.

The Chairmen disclosed that the choices of projects executed by the Councils were the immediate needs of the people based on their several interactions and  assessment needs of the various communities.

They, however, appealed for patience from other communities with similar requests, assuring that they will equally be attended to as soon as more funds were available.
