KWSG KEYS INTO NUTRITION MARCHING FUND OF UNICEF TO ERADICATE MALNUTRITION IN THE STATE

The Kwara State Government, in its bid to eradicate malnutrition ravaging the lives of the vulnerable groups, especially, children, women and other disadvantaged groups, has keyed into Nutrition Marching Fund, a United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Scheme which will ensure resources are set aside and available to tackle malnutrition menace in the State.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Umar Yakub Jaja disclosed this during the 4th quarter meeting of the State Committee on Food and Nutrition (SCFN) held in the conference room of the Ministry.

The Permanent Secretary, who is also the Chairman of the SCFN, said that the State Government noted that the Marching Fund Project will ensure that funds are reserved to cater for malnourished children, women and other vulnerable groups so as to provide improved living condition for them, which will in turn make them productive in the society and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the State.

Dr. Jaja noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has demonstrated his unwavering support for the vulnerable members of the State through the domestication of the Policy for Food and Nutrition and Multi-Sectoral Plan of Action as well as payment of counterpart fund to UNICEF for continuous partnership for the eradication of malnutrition and other challenges facing the vulnerable groups in Kwara State.

He pointed out that year 2024 will be a busy year in the implementation of Nutrition Budget as the State Government has priortized eradication of malnutrition ravaging the lives of the vulnerable groups, which has negatively impacted the physical and mental well-being of children and other vulnerable groups, adding that malnourished children might not be able to live to their full potentials.

Dr. Jaja appreciated development partners like UNICEF, Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRiN), Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) and other development partners for their continued support to the State in its bid to wipe out the menace of malnutrition.

Earlier in his remark, the State Director, Planning, Alhaji Alimi Surajudeen, appreciated the Committee members for their unrelenting efforts to make the implementation of nutrition policy seamless in the State.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
