KWSG PLEDGES CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

The Kwara State Government has again pledged its support to the development of the education of the People With Disability (PWD) to enhance brilliant performance of the students in the State.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Modibbo Kawu Sa'adatu, made the pledge yesterday at a meeting with the Executive Director, Voice of Disability Initiative, Abuja (VDI) in conjunction with the Amplifying Change, United Kingdom at the Ministry's Headquarters in Ilorin.

Hajia Modibbo pointed out that the present administration has invested in laudable projects in the education sector, stressing that the State government would intensify efforts to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ease their programmes aimed at promoting the education of girls with disability in the State.

She applauded the Association's complementary role at improving the education of girls with disability.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Olanrewaju Rebecca Bake, said the State Governor is known for his gender inclusiveness, highlighting that women were appointed into different positions in the State and two persons with disability were also appointed as Permanent Secretaries in Kwara State.

The Permanent Secretary therefore appreciated the Voice of Disability Initiative for the words of encouragement and for finding Kwara State worthy of its programme.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the Voice of Disability Initiative, Barrister Catherine Edeh, had disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to focus on women and the right of the People With Disability (PWD) to education as well as making education equitable and transparent in all activities.

"Our role here is to defend the right of the women in the society, women with disability are prioritized and their orientation should be changed, the issue of stigma and discrimination among women with disability should be ruled out", she said. 

Barrister Edeh solicited for total commitment to make this programme succeed in its good plan.

In his own contribution, the Focal Person, Kwara State Voice of Disability Initiative, Dr. Oyelakin Kunmi Ogungbade, praised the Governor for appointing two people with disability to the position of Permanent Secretary and his initiative in turning Kwara State education from analog to digital through the Kwara Learn programme.

The meeting was graced by dignitaries which include: the Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaji Abdulraheem Rufai; Director, School Services, Mrs. Eunice Oluropo Abidoye; Programme Manager, Voice of Disability Initiative, Mr. Edward Ogenyi; Consultant, Mapping and Evidence Gathering, Voice of Disability Initiative, Mr. Douglas Izuu; Communication Officer, Voice of Disability Initiative, Mr Samson Ayodeji; Finance Manager, Voice of Disability Initiative, Mr. David Ayodele Obaremo; Interpreter, Kwara State Voice of Disability Initiative, Mrs. Joy Oloyede.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
