KWSG EVACUATES LUNATICS & BEGGARS WITHIN ILORIN METROPOLIS

The Kwara State Government has again reaffirmed its commitment to cleansing the society against all forms of environmental insanity and social deface.

The Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade, affirmed this during an official evacuation exercise carried out by the Ministry yesterday within Ilorin metropolis.

Hon. Afolashade stated that it is part of the Ministry's mandates to further ensure that the society is cleansed of any form of activities that can affect the peaceful co-existence in the State, recalling that the Ministry had earlier reached out to the Beggars Association through dialogue and warned them against raodside begging, which is causing social menace and environmental deface in the State.

While revealing that roadside begging and free-roaming of lunatics within Ilorin metropolis is alarming, the Commissioner warned those involved in the act to desist, as violators will face the wrath of law.

Hon. Afolashade further explained that such acts pose serious danger to the safety and well-being of the citizenry as well as the serenity of the environment if it is not addressed effectively, adding that unscrupulous individuals often time have been found hiding under the disguise of insanity to cover-up their criminal atrocities.

She said "roadside begging activities have detrimental effects on the society ranging from littering of the environment, while the wandering of the lunatics within the city can cause serious danger to the safety of people as many can use that to perpetrate illegal acts."

During the exercise, the Commissioner's Team were able to tour the city from Post-Office axis to Geri Alimi/Airport road, evacuated five people with insanity and two roadside beggars were immediately taken to one of the Ministry's rehabilitation homes for treatment and possible repatriation.

Present at the exercise were the Director Rehabilitation, Mr. Taiye J. Ikupolati and other members of staff of the Ministry.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024.
