KWSG ASSURES CITIZENS OF COMMITMENT TO THEIR WELFARE - Hon. Afolashade

The Kwara State Government has re- affirmed its commitment to ensuring that all citizens in the state, especially the needy, less privileged and mentally ill enjoy adequate social support from the government.

The Hon. Commissioner for Social Development, Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade stated this while addressing the public on a Television Programme - "Network Kwara", at the Kwara State Television Authority recently.

Hon. Afolashade in her address emphasized the commitment of the Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq's -led administration towards improving the standard of living of the disabled and vulnerable in the State.

Hon. Afolashade who highlighted the various interventions of the state government for the physically challenged and vulnerable, such as the distribution of food items and other consumables, vocational engagement and training, distribution of working tools, among several others, condemned the irate level of roadside-begging within the metropolis.

Afolashade, maintained that roadside-begging is a stumbling block to individuals' potentials, adding that it creates social-economic problems as well as environmental deface, urging beggars to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

"The Ministry has met with the head of the Almajiris to dialogue with them, warning them to stay clear of some strategic areas like Geri-Alimi, Post Office and other urban axis of the State capital", she explained.

Hon. Afolashade added that the Ministry has provided ample avenues for many of the abled beggars to get useful vocational trainings at the "Amoyo Rehabilitation Centre", and reached out to the Ministry of Business and Innovation Technology in the State as well as some Non - Governmental Organisations for partnership to enhance their skills acquisition, capacity building and financial stability.

The Commissioner, further remarked that, the evacuation of the people with mental disability from the metropolis is expedient to give them adequate care and curb environmental impunity, criminality and any form of social unrest that their presence on the street could create.

She explained further that the Ministry also has an area office at Sabo-line where marital conflicts, child custody and related matters are settled. Others are the Juvenile Correctional Centre, where erring children are remanded and reformed, Children Reception Centre where children with different circumstances are received, cared for and raised to become responsible individuals in the future.

Hon. Afolashade who assured the public of the Ministry's commitment to improving the standard of living of citizens, urged them to be patriotic and law abiding and shun all social vices.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
