LG Commissioner Charges Field Workers on Proactiveness

The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Bata has charged field workers across the 16 Local Government Areas in the state to be more proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Hon. Bata gave the charge in his office during a familiarization meeting with the field workers posted outside the Ministry’s headquarters to serve in different capacities across the councils.

The Commissioner appreciated the staff for their dedication to work in their respective local governments, imploring them to show more commitment in the discharge of their duties, and be good ambassadors of the Ministry wherever they find themselves.

He encouraged the field workers to feel free to come forward with ideas or suggestions that could further move the ministry forward, as his doors were opened to meaningful discussions.

Hon. Bata, who referred to himself as the “servant of the Ministry”, assured the staff that he was posted here to serve, and as such, they should be rest assured of his support and cooperation at all times.

He assured that more office furniture, working tools, and other essentials to make the offices habitable would be provided as soon as sufficient funds were available.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Iyabo Modupe Adekeye commended the staff for their dedication and encouraged them to sustain the tempo.

She, however, solicited for more support and cooperation at all levels, charging them to take their work seriously and be good image makers of the Ministry at all times.

The Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply, Alhaja Medinat Yakub welcomed the Commissioner on board, on behalf of the outstations staff and pledged their maximum cooperation to him, noting that a win for one is a win for all.

Some members of staff who spoke at the meeting appreciated the Commissioner for availing them the opportunity to interface with the management team, which provided them the avenue to express their minds.

The meeting was attended by all the Directors, Principal Officers and other members of staff of the Ministry.
