FREE SURGICAL OUTREACH ENTERS 2ND WEEK

Following the commencement of Kwara State Government's free medical and surgical outreach the penultimate week at Erin-Ile, in the Oyun Local Government, the exercise has entered second week, with the health Team now at Offa General Hospital, Offa Local Government, providing medical services to the people, even as a woman was delivered of a baby boy.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, was received by the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Offa Local Government, Chief Jare Thomas, Medical Director of Offa General Hospital, Dr. Abdulsalam Olabisi and Supervisory Councillor for Health, Mr. Bashir Olaotun.

The Commissioner expressed her delight at the turnout of the people to access the free health care opportunity, appreciating further the professional touch of experts in handling the various health issues of the people. 

Dr. El-lmam also seized the opportunity to call on members of the public who require interventions for surgically amenable ailments like hernia, lipomas, cataract and other related diseases to avail themselves of this great opportunity which the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, brought to them on a platter of gold.

At the press session, one of the Surgeons and Deputy Director of Medical Services and Training in Kwara State Ministry of Health, Dr. Stephen Arigidi, affirmed that "today's outreach was so special that we were able to integrate a woman who needed an emergency ceazarean section into the free health care opportunity provided by our amiable Governor AbdulRazaq."

The woman, name withheld, was successfully delivered of a baby boy by the free health Team, through the timely intervention for a ceasarean section without the woman paying a dime.

The Team was also able to provide free health care services as planned to people from all the twelve wards in Offa LGA, who had trooped to the hospital to get medical consultations and appropriate drugs for their respective ailments like hypertension, diabetes and specific care to resolve problems associated with eye sight, reading glasses or surgical care for relevant conditions.

Kwara Govt Team Arrives Mandate market, Confiscates Suspected Beef

Kwara State Government officials and experts have arrived at the Mandate Market in Ilorin to activate measures to protect the public amid rumours of poisoned cow meat.  On the team were the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Toyosi Thomas-Adebayo; Commissioner for Health Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam; officials from the Ministry of Environment, including the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency Mrs Folorunsho Idayat, and officials from the Ministry of Health including the Permanent Secretary Alhaja Afusat Ibrahim, and the Director of Public Health Dr. Oluwatosin Fakayode, among others.  The government has immediately confiscated all the suspected meats for laboratory tests and confirmation of claims after initial engagements with the Mandate Market stakeholders.  Further information will be given as may become necessary.
