BUDGET POLICY DIRECTION: MINISTRY COMMENDS GOVERNOR ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been commended for his exemplary leadership on budget policy direction with a commitment to accelerate socio-economic development of the State.

The Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Mallam Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, gave the commendation at the just concluded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) parley with the Governor, on year 2024 Budget Policy Direction, at the Government House Banquet hall in Ilorin, the State Capital. 

The Commissioner said it has become imperative for the Governor to direct the policy focus of Government for 2024 budget preparation, noting that the basic rule for realistic budget is that expenditure should not exceed revenue in order to achieve higher budget performance and expedite action on economic development of the State.

While pointing out that the responsibility of the Government is growing bigger and scarcity of resources is also prevailing, Hon. Sabi stressed the need to prioritize the said budget to focus on the pressing needs of the people so as to continue to deliver on the dividend of democracy and good governance to the citizenry.

He explained further that it is pertinent for Stakeholders to be properly guided on the fiscal and monetary policy direction for the implementation of realistic and sustainable year 2024 budget, which according to him, will ensure effective resource allocation, transparency and accountability in budget implementation, for the achievement of strategic objectives. 

Hon. Sabi charged all the Stakeholders in the budget preparation, to take advantage of the meeting with Governor AbdulRazaq on Budget Policy Direction, as a good opportunity, which will further enhance a sustainable and efficient budget preparation for the year 2024.

Those at the meeting include: the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Yaqub Umar Jaja; Director, Budget, Alhaji Shamsudeen Aregbe; and Director, Planning, Alhaji Alimi Kayode Surajudeen, among other principal officers of the Ministry.
