Olukoju: State Media Reform Critical for Transparency and Public Trust

Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revitalising state-owned media organisations to align with modern standards.

Olukoju stated this during a meeting in Ilorin with general managers of state media houses, emphasising Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s resolve to sustain reforms initiated during his first term.

“The total reformation began in the first term of this administration, and the Governor remains steadfast in advancing it. We recognise the media’s pivotal role in shaping public opinion and ensuring transparency,” she said.

She praised the general managers for their resilience in maintaining operations amid challenges, adding, “I acknowledge your dedication to upholding journalistic integrity and collaborating with the government.”

The meeting provided a platform for media leaders to discuss institutional challenges and government support. General managers from Kwara Television Authority (Alhaji Ayobami Akanbi), Radio Kwara (Mr. Tajudeen Aremu), Herald Newspapers (Mr. Yomi Adeboye), and KWASAA Secretary Alhaji Ismail Asukuti commended the Governor’s interventions in the sector.

Permanent Secretary Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed assured continued ministerial support, while Olukoju earlier solicited expertise from the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) during their state executive inauguration.

“I will reach out to tap into your wealth of experience. The success of this administration requires collective effort, particularly from seasoned professionals,” she stated.
