State-owned Media Reformation, a Must - Olukoju

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju has reaffirmed the State Government's continued support for the revitalization of state-owned media organizations to align with contemporary media standards.

Olukoju gave this assurance in Ilorin during a pivotal meeting with the General Managers of the state-owned media houses.

Her words: "the total reformation began in the first term of this administration and the Governor remains steadfast in his commitment to driving this reformation forward, recognizing the vital role that media plays in shaping public opinion and fostering transparency".

Hon. Olukoju expressed her "heartfelt appreciation for the General Managers' dedication and cooperation in working alongside the Governor to keep the media houses operational during challenging times, and I also acknowledged your resilience and unwavering commitment to upholding journalistic standards", she added.

Speaking on the purpose of the meeting, Olukoju said, "it provides an invaluable platform for the media houses leaders to candidly speak on the challenges faced by their respective organizations, while discussing the substantial support provided by the government thus far".

The General Managers at the meeting, each shared insights into the various challenges their organizations had encountered, while also commending the efforts of the Governor, in addressing some of these pressing issues, as well as his commitment to the state's media industry.

Present at the meeting were the General Managers of Kwara Television Authority, Alhaji Ayobami Akanbi; Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation, (Radio Kwara), Mr. Tajudeen Aremu; Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation, Publishers of Herald Newspapers, Mr. Yomi Adeboye, and the Secretary of Kwara State Signage and Advertising Agency (KWASAA), Alhaji Ismail Asukuti.

In his closing remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed assured the General Managers of the Ministry's continued support. 

Meanwhile, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju had earlier in the day solicited the support of Members of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), in the pursuit of the task given to her by Governor AbdulRazaq.

She made this call during the election and inauguration of the Executive members of the State Branch of the League.

"I would be reaching out to you to tap from your wealth of experience and I hope you will heed my calls. 

"The task of ensuring the success of this administration is a collective efforts of all Kwarans, particularly people with vast experience in various fields. I appreciate you for inviting me and I look forward to working with our veteran journalists", the Commissioner stated.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
