Olukoju Reiterates Government Support for Media Practitioners

Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, has reiterated government's support for media practitioners in the state, even as she seeks media assistance in reporting government activities to the public.

The Commissioner reiterated this in Ilorin today,  when the Radio Television Theatre & Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAW), Kwara State Council, paid her a courtesy visit in her office.

Olukoju further assured them of the continuity of the ongoing reform of media houses that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq initiated during his first tenure of office.

"As Media practitioners, you are aware of the condition of our media houses before Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's first term in office and if you compare it to the current state, you will agree that a lot has been accomplished.

"More improvements are on the horizon. Currently, efforts are underway to enhance the operations of some of our media houses."

According to her, Olukoju explained that "like other workers in the state, His Excellency the Governor also prioritizes the welfare of media practitioners, thus their representation in the palliative committee."

At this juncture, the Commissioner assured them of her open-door policy and encouraged them to reach out to her whenever necessary, adding that their challenges will be looked.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Usman Oke, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his efforts in revitalizing the media houses and assured the Commissioner of the Association's continued support.

However, he appealed to the Commissioner to consider their request, amongst other, to include their members as recipients of palliatives.
