INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION: KWARA FIRST LADY DONATES FOOD STUFF TO ORPHANAGES

In continuation of a week long programme to commemorate the 63rd Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, the Kwara First Lady, Amb, (Prof.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq has donated food stuff and materials worth thousands of naira to the Children Reception Centre, Pipeline Road and To Omo re Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre, Tanke, llorin, Kwara State.

 

The Kwara First Lady, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, on Monday restated government commitment towards the welfare of women, girls and the less privileged.

Amb. (Prof.) AbdulRazaq reiterated the efforts of both government and Ajike People Support Foundation in impacting the lives of vulnerable women and girls positively.

She noted that the State government and Ajike People Support Foundation would continue to place high premium on the welfare of the less privileged.

"It is because of the priority given to women and children that, Her Excellence deems it right to visit the Children Reception Centre to celebrate Nigeria's 63rd Independence, through giving of various food items for their usage and consumption."

"It is worthy of note that the Ministry of Women Affairs, under the administration and leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had through various programmes and activities, positively impacted the lives of vulnerable women and girls while defending the rights of Kwaran child."

"We are proud to say that programmes such as skill acquisition and empowerment have transformed the lives of many vulnerable women and girls to become successful entrepreneur, and in turn contributed their quota to the economic growth of the State", she remarked.

The First Lady encouraged children, especially, the less privileged to be proud of their present condition, advising that there is ability in disability.

While commending the care givers for their dedication to humanity, love and care for the children, Amb. (Prof.) AbdulRazaq enjoined them to use the gifts judiciously for the benefits of the children in order to continue to ensure growth and development of the children.

In her speech, the Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Oluwakemi Opeyemi Afolashade, welcomed the First Lady with zeal and expressed the show of love as a renewed hope and extension of kindness towards the children.

The Commissioner explained that the Children Reception Centre was established to foster home for the homeless, hope for the withdrawn, care for the abandoned and pathways for the lost, appreciating the State Government for creating an enabling environment for all social homes to thrive.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Alh. Abdulrasak Babatunde Alabere, reiterated that the visit to the State Children Reception Centre and To Omo Re Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre was in commemoration of the activities lined up for the 63rd Independence Anniversary celebration, which will serve as a means to support the less privileged and children with disabilities.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Development, Mr. Peter Kayode Ayanwale, appreciated the State government for the gifts, noting that they have brought smiles to the faces of the children. 

 On behalf of the Children at the Children Reception Centre, Abosede Adeleye, expressed her delight at the kind gestures by the State government and Ajike People Support Foundation. 

The Coordinator, To Omo re Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre, Rev. Samuel Ajayi, also appreciated Her Excellency for her support and succour given to them.

Those at the event were the Deputy Executive Director, Ajike Support Foundation, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Alhaji Okanlawon Olanrewaju; and Directors from relevant Ministries .
