KWSG Commends NICO On Language  Acquisition

The Kwara State Government has commended the Management of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) for promoting acquisition of other indigenous languages among Nigerians, describing it as a remarkable task geared towards a united Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Communications, Mrs. Christianah Omolola Asonibare gave this commendation in Ilorin during the week, at the closing ceremony of a "One-month Intensive Training of Nigerian Indigenous Language Programme," held at the Federal Secretariat, Ilorin.

Presenting her keynote address, the Permanent Secretary affirmed that the event was, "an opportunity for participants to learn and be equipped with different Nigerian languages to enable them interact freely and understand indigenous languages better, adding that this will promote love, peace, harmony, and trust especially at this time of security concern in the country and the global community at large.

"I, therefore, implore you all to make use of the skills acquired from this programme to surmount the challenges of language barreers, as regards social integration and foster unity and peaceful co-existence among us, given the multiethnic nature of our dear Nation".

Asonibare, at the programme organized by NICO, a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, North Central Zone, Ilorin, appreciated the organizers and other stakeholders for their efforts at making the event a huge success.

Earlier, the Zonal Director of the Institute, Mrs. Franca Okoro described the event as a fulfilment of the Institute's statutory mandate, which is to "preserve and prevent our dying indigenous languages from going into extinction.

"This one-month August edition of the programme is designed to equip participants with adequate skills to communicate in other indigenous languages aside their mother tongue, is aimed at enhancing unity, tolerance and peaceful co-existence among diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria, and also help in the understanding of other people's culture through languages.

"I would like to commend the participants for their commitment and patience, especially during this trying time to attend the classes and ensure that our languages are kept alive. I urge you to continue to practice what you have learnt, which I am sure you would find very interesting", she added.

Mrs. Okoro specially thanked the State Ministry of Communications and other stakeholders for their contributions and cooperation in the last one month, to ensure the success of the programme.

Highlights of the closing ceremony were stage plays in four indigenous languages; Nupe, Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo; presentation of certificates to participants and awards to deserving members of the public.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
