*KWSG restates commitment to Quality and Affordable Child Health Care*

The First Lady of Kwara State, Her Excellency, Amb. Dr. Mrs Olufolake AbdulRazaq, has declared her support for all the initiatives of the State government towards ensuring that every child is immunised, stressing  the importance of timely vaccination for children.

The First Lady stated this during the Launching of Rotavirus Vaccine, held today at G-Pinnacle Suites, Pipeline road, Ilorin.

She stressed that the launching of the Rotavirus vaccine into the state's routine immunization schedule is a "major milestone in the push to protect Kwara children against vaccine - preventable diseases."

According to her, " this important occasion is meant to flag off the introduction of the Rotavirus vaccine to ensure that diseases that are preventable, but remain major causes of illness and death among children, become a thing of the past.

" Protecting young children through this vaccine also decreases rates of Rotavirus infection in unimmunized and elderly populations. This vaccine stands to also help reduce the use of antibiotics, which are often - ineffectively - prescribed to treat Rotavirus infections, thus helping to stem the rise of antibiotic resistance," she added.

Earlier, The State Commissioner for Communications, Hon Olabode George Towoju, reiterated the government's commitment towards the health sector, stressing the need to improve the health of every Kwaran, while  reducing death rates among children.

Towoju emphasized that the government is ready to partner with all professional and available bodies and organizations to reduce the rate of diarrhea amongst children.

Speaking further, he said, "I am proud to be the Commissioner for Communications, because both the Governor and the First Lady have made my job easy for me, they have given me words to boast about.

"We appreciate Her Excellency for breaking the ice, walking the talk and always placing priority on women and children, she is indeed a Good Mother," he concluded.

On his part, The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Raji Razaq, lauded the co-operation of the state government on the works done in the health sector, stating that His Excellency has renovated over 45 Primary Health Care Centers across the state.

Earlier, The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Nusirat Elelu in her welcome address, stated that the Rotavirus vaccine is "part of the comprehensive strategy to control dehydrating diarrhea among children."

According to her, "introducing Rotavirus vaccine will reduce illness and death from diarrhea diseases by about 40%, saving more lives of children under five years of age.

"We have built capacities of our ever- ready and hardworking health workers to be able to make the most of the introduction of the vaccine. 

"I urge all mothers and caregivers to take their children to the nearest health facilities to get their children immunised," she submitted.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
