*KWSG ICT Hub Targets Youth Empowerment, Job Creation - Towoju*

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has assured Kwarans that the government's investment in Information, Communication And Technology (ICT), as seen in the construction of ICT Innovation Hub, would soon begin to yield positive results in areas of youth empowerment and employment.

Towoju gave this assurance while featuring on a radio program, "The Platform," at the Midland FM of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation.

According to him, at completion, "the Innovation Hub, which is the second but the largest in Africa after the one in South Africa, will avail Kwara youth the opportunity to acquire in-demand skills in the area of ICT such as Coding, Software Engineering and Website development.

"This development will make Kwara economically viable in technology, digital literacy and innovation," he stated.

On Digital Literacy Centres, Hon. Towoju assured that "every local government in the state will benefit from the project.

"The Governor has more projects in the offing to execute to make the education sector in the state meet the world standard.

" As we speak, some of our Public Secondary School students will be representing, not just Kwara, but the entire Nigeria in the World School Debate in Netherland. This tells Kwarans that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's investment in education is paying off.

" Also, just 3 days ago, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) gave the Governor a pass mark for his transparency in the judicious use of the UBEC fund. This is a giant leap away from the past when Kwara was blacklisted and put to national shame because the past administration diverted the fund for personal use."

" When  Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq resumed to office, the first thing he did was to pay all the UBEC money that had been stolen by the past government, restored our dignity; our name was cleared and we were granted acces to more funds."

" The funds are being used to reconstruct, remodel, renovate and procure desk, table and chairs. Now, we are have environment conducive for learning for both our students and teachers."

Hon. Towoju equally visited the sordid past that the previous administrations plunged the state into through missapropriation of public funds and flagrant abuse of power.

In his words, " some Kwara workers are owed backlogs of salaries and the ones that got paid received gerigedi. Today, the narrative has changed. Every workers in the state now receive their full salary as and when due."

On the Sunset teachers, Hon. Towoju disclosed that the recruitment was done a bid  to make things hard for the incoming administration. They employed a lot of unqualified and untrainable teachers who were handpicked based on cronyism. Some of them were employed without qualifications.  But when Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq came onboard, he revisited the recruitment process and ensured that everyone was given a level playing ground. Today, we have a lot of first graduates teaching our students. Today, we have graduates who are gainfully employed by the government without knowing anybody. Today, son of nobody is becoming somebody without knowing anybody. Kudos to his Excellency for that".

On the recent Procurement of Buses for transporters in the state, Towoju described the project as part of the "unwavering commitment of the state government to boosting the transport sector and ease the movement of Kwarans, goods and services from one place to another."

Speaking on the Visual Arts centre, Towoju disclosed that "the project is near completion as the major aspect of the construction has been done. Also, His Excellency, through his foresight, has procured the items to be put in the Studio before the inflation, thus saving the state from buying them at exorbitant amount.

"The project has attracted the attention of the King of Morocco who is known for his love for Arts. This project has put Kwara in the global map," Towoju affirmed.

On Sports, Hon. Towoju attributed the recent rumour about budget inflation to the "cacophony of lies that the opposition has planned to use to force their way into power. But unfortunately for them, Kwarans have wisen up and they know that the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is honest in his dealings and are ready to rally around him."
