KWSG committed to boosting the state's economy - Towoju

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon, Olabode George Towoju has described the ongoing Gbugbu International Market construction as a step in the right direction to making Kwara state an economically viable state.

Towoju said this while fielding questions on a live programme, "The Platform," on Midland FM, today.

He extolled the governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for "embarking on the project given its vast potentials to make the state an economic hub and a melting pot for businesses across the world."

" It is high time Kwara became a center of economic attraction to people within and outside Kwara. Gbugbu Market is on the verge of completion and its construction is designed to meet international standards."

Speaking on the significance of the project to Kwarans in the northern part  of the state, Towoju disclosed that the project " is among other things the Exceptional Governor of Kwara State is doing in the North to give them a sense of belonging. This is a leap away from the past where they were subjected to neglect.

"Aside the market under construction, the state government is working on the construction of drainages in the region to mitigate and completely stop the challenges of erosion in the region. We are working on making Kwara North a Mini-America or Mini-London", he said.

Towoju asserted that the retinue of projects being executed across the state have started attracting people from all walks of life to Kwara.

" We are executing projects that can bring people from outside Nigeria to Kwara state. Ilorin Visual Arts Center; Kwara International Conference Centre, Kwara ICT Innovation Hub, Kwara Garment Factory and many more are projects this administration will be completing soon and they will attract investors into the state.

"All these projects conceived and carried out by the Exceptional Governor of Kwara State portray him as a visionary leader. A leader who can think of what would happen in the next 10, 40 and 50 years and develop a plan to make it happen", he added.

On Kwara Garment Factory, Towoju assured kwarans that at completion, the garment factory will create employment for the teeming Youths.

" The Kwara Garment Factory is going to create over two thousand jobs. Its unfortunate that the Garment Factory was abandoned by the past government which could have availed our youths job opportunities. But thanks to the exceptional Governor of Kwara State for revamping the factory and at completion, it will be one of our prides in the state," he stated.

Speaking on the several awards presented to the governor since inception of office from different groups,  Towoju described the awards as deserving, given the sterling performance of the governor.

"Everyone wants to give His Excellency awards because of his exceptional performance. People from Europe, America and even within Kwara . He was given one recently titled  "The Uncommon Liberator of Our time" by the Students Body. He  was also recently awarded by the Kwara Resident Doctors for the Exceptional work His Excellency is doing in the Health Sector.  Not to mention the one given by the BluePrint Newspaper. The list of the awards received so far is far too long to be mentioning them."

Speaking on the past administration and what the present government is doing differently, Towoju said " While the past administration bastardised every sector, the current administration is breathing a new lease of life to them.

"Today, every sector is being given the attention it deserves. Education, Health, Security and the economy are all being taken care of.

" There used to be just one Female Commissioner in the state but today we have a lot of them in the cabinet. That tells you how much His Excellency believes in the Kwara women and is ready to accord them respect in his administration," he concluded.
