2022 Durbar: Government promises support for a successful festival


The Kwara State Government has reiterated its support for the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar, an event showcasing the culture of the emirate, scheduled to climax next week Sunday.
This assurance was given by the State tate Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, while receiving the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee in his office today. 

According to Towoju, the government is committed to uplifting and upholding the cultural values of Kwara State and will not stop in showcasing the State's heritage to the world. 

"I assure you of the support of the government towards the success of this year's durbar and my ministry will also help to create the needed publicity and awareness for this great annual festival," he added. 

On his part, the Chairman of the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, Engr. Suleiman Yahaha Alapansapa  enumerated the activities preceding the durbar and stated that a royal visit by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, to the State Governor on the third day after sallah will round off the festival.

Engr. Alapansapa added that Ilorin Durbar is an annual festival which showcases the heritage and culture of Ilorin Emirate to the outside world. 

He added that the Ilorin Durbar will positively affect the economy and has been attracting international and national investors to the state.  

The Chairman sought for government's support towards the 2022 Ilorin Emirate Durbar while also soliciting for more publicity for the event.
