KWSG working against drug and child abuse — Abdulmaliq-Bashir

The Kwara State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hon. Mopelola Abdulmaliq-Bashir, has reiterated the need for continuous sensitisation on the dangers inherent in the illicit use of drug among the youths.
Abdulmaliq-Bashir made this known today during a sensitisation tour of the Ministry to Alapa and Wara communities in Asa and Ilorin West Local Government Areas of Kwara State respectively 

According to her, the act of exposing kids to harm through hawking during school hours is an act that needs to be discouraged. 
She advised parents and guardians to endeavor to send their wards to school to enable them get the necessary education that will make them stand out in the community and nation at large.

She also advised parents to be watchful of the kind of friends their children mingle with and also be mindful of what they consume, as drug abuse is on the high.

A representative of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dr. Saad Mustapha, spoke on lack of good parenting on teenagers, which has led some wards to venture into prostitution, drug abuse and other social menace.

He encouraged parents to give birth to children they can train and avoid giving their kids out to relatives to train, as such act has seen children and teenagers being exposed to abuse.
In another development, the Kwara State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mopelola Abdulmaliq-Bashir, has reaffirmed that all hands are on deck to tackle the issue of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), and stated that the Ministry is reaching out to stakeholders and Ministries for support.

She disclosed this in a meeting with the stakeholders and Management of the Global Hope for Women and Children (GLOHWOC) today at E-Phonix Hotel.

The Commissioner stated that her Ministry is looking forward to synergizing with qualified counsellors to help counsel victims of SGBV.

Earlier, the CEO of GLOHWOC, Mrs Christy Abayomi-Oluwole, appreciated Her Excellency, the First Lady of the State, Dr Olufolake AbdulRazaq, for her help in making sure SGBV is reduced in the State.

She lamented that some perpetrators were able to avoid prosecution and go scot- free, while the victims were left to suffer the repercussions without anyone to fight and cater for them.

She sought the support of all stakeholders to help in giving justice to the victims as well as help source for funds.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
