Kwara Environment Commissioner inspects the level of waste management
... says indicriminate dumping will not be condoned
In a bid to make the state clean and conducive for the people, the Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh made an inspection tour round the Ilorin metropolis to check the level of compliance with waste management policies.
Buraimoh, while sampling the opinion of some residents in Ilorin metropolis, said wastes generated should be managed adequately to avoid the spread of any form of epidemic in the state.
The Commissioner said the rate at which people dump refuse indiscriminately will not be condoned anymore as it poses threat to health.
She appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment to avert outbreak of diseases across the state.
The Commissioner commended the waste management contractors for quick evacuation of the waste while charging them to put more effort in making sure that all the wastes are out of site and be timely in discharging their responsibilities effectively in order to ensure a clean environment.
Places toured by the Commissioner and her team included: Tanke-University road, Sango area, Maraba Axis, Ipata ,Taiwo Road, General Hospital axis, Airport Road, among others.
