Gender Mainstreaming: Commissioner, Stakeholders Synergize


In continuation of her visit to all critical Stakeholders in Kwara State, the  Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia  Riskatullahi Mopelola Abdul Malik Bashir,  has met with her counterpart in Solid Minerals Resources  Ministry, Hon. Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin. 

The purpose of today's meeting was to canvass for support for the drive to strictly implement the mandates of the Ministry in line with global best practices in women development. 

 Abdul Malik  solicited   the Commissioner's support in the implementation of the recently signed  Gender Composition law, to ensure that  female gender benefit immensely from the law.

The Commissioner reiterated the need for all female Commissioners to come together and play active roles in line with the resolve of the present administration under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on female gender mainstreaming and economic advancement of Kwara Women.

The  Commissioner for Solid Mineral Resources,  Mrs Harriet Adenike Afolabi-Oshatimehin, in her response, assured her guest of her unwavering commitment and support to female gender mainstreaming as set by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. the said course, to attain its set goals. 

In a related development,  Mrs Abdulmaliq-Bashir Mopelola Riskatullahi reiterated the state government's commitment to 

giving voice to the voiceless by looking at strategic ways to improve the existing policies and procedures as they relate to restructuring of creches and vocational training center in Kwara State.

AbdulMaliq-Bashir gave this assurance in an interaction with Kwara AA Women Support, Ajike group who paid her a courtesy visit in her office.

The Commissioner who appreciated the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration, charged women across the state to support the  government at all time, adding that matters concerning women are  paramount to the current dispensation in the state.

AbdulMaliq-Bashir explained that the spirit behind gender composition law may not achieve much, unless women have an understanding of what it encompasses.

Earlier, the Coordinator, Kwara AA Women Support, Ajike group,  Omotosho Taiye Mutiat expressed  profound gratitude to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for appointing AbdulMaliq-Bashir as the Commissioner Women Affairs.

In her comment, the Ilorin East Coordinator Kudirat Yahaya,  appealed for the implementation of 35 percent affirmative action or inclusion of women in politics.
