FIRST LADY URGES 21-MAN SGBV COMMITTEE TO INTENSIFY SENSITIZATION EFFORT

 The Kwara State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufolake AbdulRazaq has urged the Committee on Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in the State to intensify its efforts on sensitization with a view to tackling the menace of such violence. 

The First Lady stated this in her virtual message at a meeting of Stakeholders  held at the Ministry of Women Affairs to highlight the journey so far, and deliberate on the way forward.

In a bid to further tackle the menace headlong, Dr. (Mrs.) AbdulRazaq called for synergy among the Committee members, especially the Security Agencies, Civil Society Organizations, Traditional Institutions and the Ministry of Women Affairs

to ensure availability of accurate data on Sexual and Gender Based Violence in the State.

The First Lady, who is also the Founder of Ajike People's Support Centre, applauded the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for graciously approving the Budget of the Committee for Sexual and Gender Based Implementation Plan.

She stated further that the Nigeria Governors Wives Forum is presently working with Mcarthur Foundation on a project that involves Mapping and Publishing a National Directory of State Gender Based Violence Service Provider, adding that the involvement of this Committee would be Key to the success of the project. 

The proposed Service Directory, according to her, is expected to be launched in March to commemorate the 2022 International Women's Day. 

In her keynote address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Risqatullahi Mopelola AbdulMaliq assured that the present Administration will leave no stone unturned in minimizing the incidences of SGBV,  support the victims and bring perpetrators of this social menace to justice.

The fight against SGBV, she admitted, cannot be fought by government alone, but with the support of every citizens of the State. 

Hon. AbdulMaliq applauded the support of relevant Stakeholders including Traditional Institutions, Religious Groups and Coalition of Civil Society Organizations  working on SGBV and urged them to be more commited to the social service.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Deborah Abosede Aremu commended Governor AbdulRazaq for providing an enabling environment for the Committee to operate. 

She further praised the First Lady for her unflinching support for Women and the vulnerable persons in the State.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajia Afusat Nike Ibrahim had enumerated the achievements of the Committee which include

Gazetting and Popularization of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, Institutional Strengthening, Establishment of Sex Offenders Register, Advocacy visits to important places to sensitize the public, among others.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
