Following the controversy surrounding an alleged victimization of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members at the Yikpata Orientation Camp, the Kwara State Government has assured the corps members of safety and adequate welfare.   The controversy at the Orientation Camp has since been amicably resolved following a swift intervention by the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.  Tensions had earlier mounted at the camp, arising from reports that several corps members were subjected to unfair treatment, sparking concerns among stakeholders and the general public, with complaints ranging from excessive disciplinary actions to alleged harassment by camp officials. KWSG Charges NAFDAC to Intensify Campaign Against Fake Drugs

Kwara State Government has charged the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), to intensify efforts at addressing issues of fake and substandard drugs and food, to enhance healthy living of the people. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, who gave the charge today in her office, while receiving the State Coordinator of the Agency, urged them to ensure compliance with standard with the aim of checkmating the activities of herbal producers. El-Imam lamented the activities of some of these quacks making false claims, adding that they must be checked as a matter of urgency, in order not to endanger people's health. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, has urged fowl sellers to be fair in their pricing and maintain high levels of hygiene in their poultry markets to safeguard the health of residents in the State. The Commissioner stated this during the annual prayer session of the Fowl Sellers Association of Nigeria (Kwara State Chapter) at the Baboko Market in Ilorin. Fowl sellers play a vital role in Kwara’s economy, dealing in chickens, ducks, guinea fowls, doves, and other rare birds. Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner commended the association for maintaining order despite economic challenges and appealed to members to keep the prices of poultry affordable for all.
