COHESU Commends Kwara Government for Upward Review of Health Workers’ Allowances
The Coalition of Health Sector Unions (COHESU), Kwara State Chapter, has commended the Kwara State Government for approving and implementing the upward review of allowances for health workers in the state.
The coalition expressed its appreciation in a press release signed by the State Chairman of COHESU, Comrade Bolatito Isaac Oladele, describing the intervention as a significant boost to the welfare of frontline health workers and a demonstration of the government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
COHESU, also referred to in the statement as JOHESU Kwara State Chapter, particularly acknowledged the government’s domestication of the circular dated November 19, 2025, and the subsequent approval of the review of allowances, including call duty, shift and specialist allowances under the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).
According to the coalition, the decision would help ease the economic challenges confronting health workers and improve their morale, motivation and overall well-being.
The union noted that a strong healthcare delivery system depends largely on the welfare and dedication of its workforce, adding that the review would serve as an incentive for skilled health professionals to remain in the state and continue providing essential services to local communities.
It further observed that the intervention was particularly important at a time when the health sector was facing the challenge of brain drain, stressing that improved welfare would encourage professionals to remain in service and contribute to sustainable healthcare delivery.
The coalition stated that the government’s action had restored hope, strengthened industrial harmony and reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality healthcare for residents of the state.
COHESU also assured the state government of its continued loyalty, dedication and commitment to maximum productivity, while expressing its readiness to partner with the administration to achieve its healthcare objectives.
