Afolashade Commends EU, RHHF for Empowering Beneficiaries with Start-Up Kits

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief (Mrs) Opeyemi Oluwakemi Afolashade has commended European Union (EU) and Royal Heritage Health Foundation (RHHF) for providing start-up kits to beneficiaries of the just concluded Skill Acquisition Programme
for Adolescent and Women, calling on beneficiaries to see the start-up kits as a source of economic empowerment.

Speaking at the programme held recently at the Olufolake Women ICT Centre, the Commissioner noted that the start-up kits donated to them would serve as capital from which their businesses can thrive and provide opportunities for them to impact the lives of other young persons in their environment.

Chief Afolashade stated that training adolescent girls and women equals securing the future of an entire community, breaking the vicious circle of inter-generational poverty, shielding them from exploitation, early marriage, GBV and giving them economic independence.

The State Team Lead, United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA), Madam Gloria Enueze, congratulated the beneficiaries, while noting that the skills acquired is a stepping stone to success that should be used to empower themselves and provide financial stability for them.

The Focal Person, Skills Acquisition, RHHF, commended EU and UNFPA for their efforts in promoting the welfare of adolescent and women and encouraged participants to make good use of the opportunity so as to build their lives and future.

Responding, the participants commended all participating development partners, pledging to use the opportunity given to them to improve their livelihoods.
