KW-PPA Boosts Procurement Capacity Across Kwara

The Kwara State Public Procurement Agency (KW-PPA) has intensified efforts to strengthen procurement capacity across the state, in line with the commitment of the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to continuous capacity building and professional development of public servants.

The Agency’s General Manager/CEO, QS. Raheem Abdulbaki, disclosed this while congratulating three members of staff who were selected as facilitators by the Institute of Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (IPESS), University of Ilorin.

The programme, jointly sponsored by the World Bank and the National Universities Commission (NUC), is aimed at strengthening technical knowledge and professional competence in public procurement.

Abdulbaki described the selection of the three officers as a significant achievement, noting that it reflects KW-PPA’s commitment to continuous development of the capacity of public servants in public procurement. 

Beyond its own staff, the Agency successfully mobilised procurement officers from all 16 Local Government Areas and State-owned Tertiary Institutions to participate in the programme—an initiative described as the first of its kind in the state.

He said the exercise represents a major step towards building a competent, professional, and coordinated procurement workforce capable of promoting transparency, efficiency, accountability, and value for money in public expenditure.

The Agency’s efforts have also received external recognition, with the University of Ilorin presenting KW-PPA with a letter of commendation for its contribution to the programme last year.

Abdulbaki reaffirmed that KW-PPA would continue to prioritise staff development and knowledge acquisition, stressing that a well-trained procurement workforce is essential to achieving the administration’s good-governance and development objectives.

Kwara, WHO Develop Costed Health Promotion Strategic Framework

The Kwara State Government in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has commenced a three-day workshop to develop the State Health Promotion Strategic Framework Costed Implementation Plan aimed at strengthening health promotion interventions and improving public health outcomes across the state.
