The Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB), Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, has inaugurated a Data Management Committee to strengthen data collection, management, analysis, and utilisation across hospitals and healthcare facilities under the supervision of the Board.

The inauguration took place Wednesday at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board, Ilorin.

Representing the Executive Secretary at the event, the Director of Medical Services and Training, Dr. Femi Joseph, said the initiative was aimed at improving the quality and reliability of health data generated by healthcare facilities, enhancing evidence-based decision-making, and ensuring timely reporting for effective planning and healthcare service delivery.

Dr. Malik emphasised that accurate and reliable data remained critical to the effective management of the state’s healthcare system.

He stressed that the Board could only make sound administrative and clinical decisions when such decisions were supported by credible, accurate, and up-to-date information.

The Executive Secretary charged members of the committee to ensure proper coordination of data-related activities across all facilities, improve reporting standards, and promote accountability in the management of health information.

According to him, the committee is expected to identify gaps in the existing data management system and develop practical measures to address them.

Dr. Malik further urged healthcare workers responsible for data generation and reporting to discharge their responsibilities with professionalism, accuracy, and diligence, stressing the importance of data integrity in healthcare planning and service delivery.

He said the initiative formed part of the Board’s broader efforts to strengthen the state’s health information system and improve the quality of healthcare services provided to residents of Kwara State.
