Following extensive engagement with key stakeholders in the education sector, the Kwara State Government has announced that all public and private schools across the state will resume for the third term of the academic session on Monday, April 20, 2026, after a three-week holiday.

The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, made the announcement today at the Ministry's headquarters in Ilorin, noting that the resumption date reflects a collective agreement reached in line with the third term academic agenda.

Addressing stakeholders, Dr. Olohungbebe commended teachers and non-teaching staff for their unwavering dedication and stressed that their contributions have significantly driven the improved learning outcomes currently being witnessed in public schools across the state.

The Commissioner acknowledged the notable gains recorded under the educational agenda of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration, attributing the progress to sustained investments, policy consistency and the commitment of stakeholders across the sector.

He emphasised that the roles of both teaching and non-teaching staff remain pivotal to consolidating these achievements and further strengthening the quality of education delivery in the state, encouraging them to sustain their support for government policies and programmes and expressed appreciation for their continued cooperation in advancing the state’s education reforms.

Dr. Olohungbebe also advised students to remain focused, disciplined and committed to their studies, noting that hard work and good conduct would position them as worthy ambassadors of their families, schools and the state at large.
