The Kwara State Government has planned to collaborate with private investors and individuals to facilitate a technologically advanced building culture in the State.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunsola, stated this on Friday during an interactive session with students of the Department of Public Administration, University of Ilorin, who were at his office.

The Commissioner stressed that the 19,500 hectares of land for Ilorin Smart City is driven by the passion of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to ensure citizens enjoy a functional and enabling urban environment, saying citizens would be best served by the housing reform policy of the State Government.

Dr Ogunsola noted that this project would not only be of benefit to the citizens but also would position the State for economic opportunities, from within and outside the shores of Nigeria.

While reemphasizing the State Government’s commitment to transforming the State, he added that Ilorin Smart City is going to be one of a kind in the West African Subregion, considering the infrastructural master piece designed for the site, which would be similar to what obtained in developed countries.

Responding, the Team Leader, Alao Joseph, praised Governor AbdulRazaq for the  transformation witnessed since he took over the administration of the State and applauded the Commissioner for piloting the transformation dream of the Governor into reality as well as for availing the team a deeper understanding of the housing policies of the present administration.

High point of the interactive session was the question and answer segment where the Commissioner educated the students on the policies and programmes on housing construction and urban development efforts of the Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration.
