Kwara Launches Youth Tech Committee to Empower, Innovate for Brighter Future

In a bold step towards securing a prosperous future for its young population, the Kwara State Ministry of Youth Development has officially inaugurated the Kwara State Youth Technical Working Committee. This strategic move underscores the government’s growing commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and skills development.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the  Commissioner for Youth Development, Ambassador Ndanusa Usman Shehu, who applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his ceaseless support and for creating an enabling environment where youths can thrive and reach their full potential.

According to the Commissioner, the newly formed committee is expected to serve as a vital platform for collaboration, innovation, and mentorship, enabling young people across the State to access opportunities that will enhance their technical and vocational capacity.

"The State government has shown consistent commitment through impactful initiatives like the Youth Employment and Empowerment Generation Scheme (YEEGS) and the International Vocational, Entrepreneurship and Technical College (IVTEC), among others," he said.

Ambassador Shehu emphasized that the committee will play a crucial role in identifying community-specific challenges faced by youths and devise targeted interventions to tackle them effectively.

“The group, through collaborative efforts, will help design and implement cutting-edge solutions that drive positive change,” he noted, urging all members of the committee to remain proactive, innovative, resilient, and steadfast in delivering on their mandate.

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, encouraged the committee members to be worthy ambassadors of their constituencies, assuring them that their contributions to youth advancement and technological innovation will be recognized and celebrated.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the committee, Mr Abdulkareem Abdulkareem expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor on behalf of all members, promising to work diligently and responsibly in fulfilling their duties toward a brighter, tech-driven future for Kwara’s youths.

Other dignitaries present at the event included the Special Assistant on Special Needs, Hon. Soliu Habeeb Baba Oloye; Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Hon. Wasiu Onidugbe; Director of Planning, Finance, and Supply, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmilola Adenike Ajide; Director of Youth, Alhaji Abdulsalam Akeem; Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, Comrade Ali Nasiru; along with members of the working committee.
