KWACReSAL Conducts Situational Assessment at Lata Grazing Reserve

The Kwara Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (KWACReSAL) project team, led by State Project Coordinator Alhaji Shamsideen Olatunbosun Aregbe has conducted an on-the-spot assessment at the Lata Grazing Reserve.

The team, which included Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Afeez Abolore Alabi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment Dr. Abubakar Ayinla, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Mrs. Christianah Omolola Asonibare, inspected the seedlings and nursery site.

The assessment was to evaluate the progress of work achieved at the site, inspect the seedlings delivered for planting at the project site and accelerate the nursery delivery process during the current raining season.

Aregbe emphasized that the commencement of the project would enhance symbiotic relationships among farmers, promote afforestation, improve soil health, and boost agricultural productivity.

He stressed that the implementation of the project would also promote sustainability, reduce environmental impact, and provide economic benefits to farmers in the community. The SPC assured that work would begin immediately.

The Co-Chairman of the Steering Committee, Dr Afeez commended the team and emphasized the need to fast-track the delivery process.
He noted that the success of the project depended on the community's ownership and active involvement in ensuring long-term sustainability. He also highlighted the importance of implementing the project within the catchment areas of the Grazing Reserve to achieve the desired goals.

Part of the team also included technical staff from key Ministries, and some State Project Implementation Unit staff who are guided by the ACReSAL slogan, which is: Greening the Environment, Saving Lives!
