Hajj 2025: Kwara Flags Off Pilgrimage as 560 Intending Pilgrims Depart for Saudi Arabia

The Kwara State Government has flagged off the 2025 Hajj operations with the successful airlift of the first batch of 560 intending pilgrims, accompanied by two officials of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia this afternoon.

Addressing the pilgrims at the Babatunde Idi-Agbon International Airport, Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq—represented by his Special Adviser and Councillor, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen—urged them to uphold the values of discipline, unity, and respect throughout their spiritual journey.

He called on the pilgrims to pray for the continued peace and prosperity of Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole, emphasizing the importance of conducting themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the country.

“As ambassadors of Kwara and Nigeria, your conduct in the Holy Land is a reflection of who we are. I urge you to avoid actions that may bring disrepute to the State or nation. Stay united, peaceful, and prayerful,” the Governor’s representative said.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Professor Mashood Mahmood Jimba, and the Amirul-Hajj for 2025, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, echoed the Governor’s message, advising the pilgrims to remain law-abiding and spiritually focused throughout the Hajj rites.

In his farewell remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, disclosed that a total of 2,174 pilgrims from the State will be airlifted to Saudi Arabia in four separate flights.

Today’s group departed aboard a Max Airline flight, which took off at 12:40 p.m. local time, marking the beginning of the State’s pilgrimage schedule for 2025.
