Commissioner Honoured by SUG, Dedicates Award to Gov AbdulRazaq

The Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Alabi Afees Abolore, has been honoured by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, in recognition of his humanitarian services and unwavering support for students development.

The award was presented during a special legislative session of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) Parliamentary Summit 2025, held in honour of the Rt. Speaker of the Kwara State 10th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, where Dr. Abolore also delivered a keynote address. Members of the Kwara State House of Assembly like the House Leader, Hon. Oba Magaji; Hon. Seun Ogunniyi; the Kwara Poly top management team and staff, led by the Rector, Dr. Abdul Jimoh; professionals; student leaders; and other dignitaries graced the event.

“This recognition reflects the far-reaching impact of the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON,” the Commissioner stated. “I am merely a beneficiary of his direction, and I owe every opportunity to serve and impact lives to the atmosphere he has created through his students-focused and youth-driven agenda.”

Dr. Abolore’s keynote address, titled “The Role of the Legislature in Promoting Integrity and Upholding Ethical Standards in Students' Governance,” emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and moral leadership among student representatives. He encouraged the SUG legislature to lead by example, stressing that ethical governance at the students level prepare young leaders for higher responsibilities in the future.

“Integrity begins in the small decisions,” he said. “Student leaders must be bold, fair, and accountable—not because of their titles, but because of the values they stand for.”

The Commissioner’s message resonated strongly with attendees and was widely applauded as timely, inspiring, and practical.

This event underscores the strong partnership between the Kwara State Government and the student community, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing ethical, visionary leaders for the future.

The Kwara State Civil Service Commission will conduct oral interviews for shortlisted medical and healthcare candidates on Wednesday, 21 May 2025 , and Thursday, 22 May 2025 , beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day at the Commission’s headquarters on Ahman Patigi Road, GRA, Ilorin. PUBLIC CLARIFICATIONS ON THE PROPOSED PAVILION

  Kwara State Geographic Information Service (GIS) again wishes to state the following on the proposed pavilion project:  The Service restates that at no time was any approval sought nor any given before the contractor illegally embarked on the construction work at the site. This is a grave offence under the law, which attracts 200% penalty. The Service does not tolerate such behaviour under whatever guise, hence the stoppage of work on the second day it started, February 7, 2025. The Service hereby acknowledges that it received a set of incomplete documents from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security with a cover letter from the Ilorin Emirates Council.
