Gov. AbdulRazaq Commended for his Commitment to Education Transformation

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been commended for his unwavering commitment in transforming the education sector in the state, with the aim of building future leaders in Kwara child. 

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Buhari, gave this commendation in Ilorin today, at the Annual Review and Press Conference of First Kwara State Leading Education Achievement and Reform Now (KwaraLEARN), held at Noktel Resort Hotel, Ilorin. 

Buhari, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Christianah Asonibare, went down memory lane that, KwaraLEARN was introduced by the current administration a year ago, noting that as at today, it has touched 120,000 pupils in the State. 

"Governor AbdulRazaq firmly believes that every child deserves access to quality education and KwaraLEARN is a testament to this fact. Over 6000 Kwara Teachers have been professionally uplifted and trained to enhance teaching skills that meet global standards.

"It is a great thing that the government is working in expanding the KwaraLEARN programme to the remaining six Local Government Areas of the State; Isin, Moro, Kaiama, Edu, Oyun and Ifelodun", Buhari disclosed.

"As we progress, the State Government envisions the KwaraLEARN programme extending to the Junior Secondary School level in the nearest future", he concluded. 



Briefing the press, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, noted that the positive impact on pupils' learning outcome that KwaraLEARN has brought is commendable. 

Adaramaja submitted that KwaraLEARN is a transformation initiative in the State and a welcome development, which has so far witnessed a 13 percent increment in the number of enrolled pupils in the affected schools. 

He expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Ministry of Education, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), and the various stakeholders for their support, calling for further synergy to achieve more in primary education across the state.

The Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara State Wing, commended the programme for its positive impact on teacher empowerment, capacity building, and professionalism. He also highlighted the remarkable improvements brought about by KwaraLEARN in public primary school education across the state.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, appreciated the Governor for elevating primary education in the state, noting that since the introduction of KwaraLEARN, truancy and lateness to school has drastically reduced.

Earlier, the Managing Director of KwaraLEARN, Mr. Isaiah Owolabi reiterated that the goal of KwaraLEARN is to ensure that no child in Kwara State is left behind in the area of quality education. 

Owolabi explained further that the digital upskilling of teachers is helping to enhance their productivity and also having a positive effect on the average pupil in class. 

Also speaking, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye affirmed that KwaraLEARN is committed to raising digitally inclined pupils and also monitoring teachers as well as their teaching methods in class, adding that, "human beings perform better while being watched".

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
