KWSG, ANRiN Commission Creche to Foster Mother-Child Bonding

The Kwara State Government has restated its commitment to supporting female civil servants in achieving a healthy Mother-Child Bonding and subsequently enhancing maximum productivity and concentration at work. 

The state Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, made this known at the official commissioning of the new ultramodern creche located at the Ministry of Communications headquarters which was renovated 
and equipped by the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) Project in the State, in order to foster mother-child bonding and aid continuous breastfeeding. 

Mrs. Oluwole appreciated ANRiN for the thoughtful gesture and urged female staff to make good use of the opportunity by following the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) for the first six months of life and Supplementary feeding from six months upward. 

"The Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, cares about the state workers, most especially the women who are known as the weaker vessels. Women go through stress pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy and after child birth. 

" Looking for where to put your baby after resuming from Maternity leave may be a challenging task but with this beautiful and affordable creche, mothers' minds will be at peace while at work and it will easy to check on your baby and breastfeed during break time. 

"I would like to specially appreciate the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) Project for this commendable project and you have the assurances of the State Government for future beneficial partnerships," she added. 

Earlier in his remarks, the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Buhari, commended ANRiN and noted that Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been attracting favours for the women folk since he assumed office, adding that this is attributed to the way he respects and acknowledges the Kwara woman. 

"What ANRiN is doing today is a testament of the fact that Kwara State, under this present administration, is gender-friendly and particularly favorable to the female gender and we are very pleased with ANRiN for choosing the Ministry for this timely project," Buhari stated. 

On his part, the Kwara State Project Coordinator of ANRiN, Dr. Habeeb Lawal, said the project is a five-year World Bank-Assisted Project aimed at "increasing the utilization of quality, cost-effective nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls and children under five years of age.

"Kwara State is one of the states benefitting from this project which began in 2018. Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq paid the counterpart fund in 2019 when he assumed office and this creche is a way of supporting the female civil servants.

" We are in the process of a Pilot Scheme and four (4) Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been strategically chosen based on certain criteria. We all need to support adequate breastfeeding as it aids mother-child bonding, prevents sicknesses and this creche will help in achieving that," he added.  

Also present at the commissioning were the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare, Alh. S.T. Salami; Permanent Secretary, Establishment Matters & Training, Alh. Mohammed Ibrahim; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Mrs. Christianah Asonibare; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Abubakar Ayinla; Directors of the Ministries of Communications and Health, and members of staff.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024.
