KWSG harps on preservation of Emirate culture

The Kwara State Government has re-echoed its commitment to partnering with educational institutions which will help increase and boost the literacy rate and foster cultural preservation in the state. 

This was made known by the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on the occasion of the "Public Presentation of the 5th Book of Readings & Awards" organized by the Center for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin, which held in the Banquet hall today. 

According to him, the CILS is saddled with the responsibility of preserving the cultural heritage of Ilorin Emirate and he lauded the Management for excelling against all odds. 

Mallam Abdulrazaq, who was ably represented by the state Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, submitted that the Center will help to remind the youths of where they are coming from. 
" I congratulate the good people of Ilorin Emirate for the success of this book and award presentation and it is my pleasure that these rich books are coming at a time when our culture is gradually getting eroded with foreign infiltrations. 

"This also serves as a wake-up call for us to embrace our origin and retrace our steps back to see where we are getting it wrong as a people," the governor added. 

Mallam Abdulrazaq congratulated all the awardees and expressed hope in the center's ability to do more exploits under his administration. 
Earlier, the Vice- Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age Abdulkareem, added that the book being presented, "The Place of Ilorin Emirate in the Development of Nigeria," is a "manifestation and reinforcement of our University's commitment to building and sustaining a robust town and gown relationship between us at the University and the people in the community that hosts us." 

Prof Abdulkareem added that the Centre for Ilorin Studies was established in 2012 with the goal of promoting and organizing "research on all aspects of development connected to Ilorin and similar cultures within our immediate communities."

On his part, the Director of Centre for Ilorin Studies and the host, Prof. Oba Yusuf Abdul-Hamid, appreciated the dignitaries and awardees for gracing the occasion and he stated that the Centre has been working tirelessly in ensuring that the Emirate culture is preserved. 

Some of the awardees were Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, the Chief of Staff to the President; Amb. (Dr.) Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State; Alh. Shehu Usman Mustapha, the Wali of Ilorin Emirate; Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN; Saliu Mustapha, Turaki of Ilorin; Sheikh Sulyman Faruk Onikijipa, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, among others.

KWASSIP Opens Application Portal for Kwapreneur 5.0

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) is excited to announce the opening of the online application portal for the fifth edition of the Kwapreneur initiative (Kwapreneur 5.0). Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara State Government launched the Kwapreneur program as a strategic effort to empower industrious and innovative young entrepreneurs across the state. Common Entrance Materials: KWSG Directs JSS Principals, Headteachers of PPS To Report for Collection

The Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has directed all Principals of Junior Secondary Schools and Head-Teachers of all Public Primary Schools across the state to report at the Quality Assurance Bureau Zonal Offices in their area for the collection of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) registration materials as from Monday 1st July, 2024. In a statement issued by the Ministry today in Ilorin, all Private Primary Schools are to come to the  Quality Assurance Bureau Headquarter's office, Ilorin, for their pupils registration of Placement Examination (Common Entrance Examination) materials with evidence of payment of their taxes.
