Towoju assures SWAN of full government's support

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Olabode George Towoju, has reassured the members of the state chapter of Sports Writers Associationn of Nigeria (SWAN) of the government's support.

Towoju stated this today during the group's courtesy visit to him at  the Ministry's conference room.

Towoju appreciated the journalists' unbiased disposition  as they acknowledged the works of the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in sports.

He assured them that work is still in progress as a number of sporting facilities are getting upgraded to meet international standards.

"We have a governor that is a lover of sports and with the international exposure he has, he wants to elevate sports in Kwara so that our athletes can be able to perform well wherever they go.

"Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq believes firmly that one of the ways the people stay united is through sports, hence, his determination to upgrade the sector and bring back its lost glory," Towoju added.

The commissioner submitted that the government's drive for excellence in sports  is also evident in the way that Kwara United has become an improved and better team in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and  he added that they should expect more progress of the state government.

Earlier, the Chairman, Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, Mr. Jimoh Bashir, commended the government for  investing so much into sports, while adding that this has created a good atmosphere for sportsmen and women.
