INCIDENT REPORT: POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD ON ASADAM ROAD

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, at about 13:10 hours, the Kwara Fire Service control room received a distress call regarding a fallen petrol tanker with registration number UDD 155 SA near Eucharistic Secondary School, opposite Coca-Cola junction, Asadam Road, Ilorin. This incident posed a significant threat to road users and pedestrians. The courageous fire officers responded promptly to mitigate the potential danger. Upon arrival, they immediately commenced efforts to drench the tanker and its surroundings extensively, thereby reducing the risk of a fire outbreak. Additionally, the road was temporarily closed to ensure public safety. The collaborative efforts of various agencies including the Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Nigeria Police, and Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority greatly facilitated these safety measures. The Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the cash backing of the year 2021 promotion for the staff of Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), with immediate effect. The Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar disclosed this in Ilorin today, while addressing the management staff of the commission in his office.
