  Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday visited the Olofa Stadium in Offa, saying the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development will be directed to re-appraise the facility and make recommendations for its reconstruction. "This is a 40-year-old design. So, we need to revamp it to improve the standard. The same attention will be given to the Lafiagi Stadium," AbdulRazaq told reporters at the stadium in Offa shortly after inspecting the facility.  He said budgetary constraints and new socioeconomic emergencies had stalled previous efforts to revamp the facility. • Govt cash-backs 2022 promotion for teachers Kwara State Government has finally cleared all the salary arrears for SUBEB teachers and local government workers as inherited from the administration of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.  Figures from the last allocation meeting of the local government showed that the government committed N1,297,389,165.83 to clear the balance of the arrears owed to the SUBEB teachers.  Another N1,622,673,992.12 was apportioned to clear the balance of the arrears for the local government workers in the past administration, according to the data from the allocation meeting. Between January 2020 and January 2024, the administration has spent at least N5.5bn to offset the arrears of salary for SUBEB teachers, local government workers and local government pensioners alone -- apart from meeting its multibillion naira monthly obligations to these categories of workers and many others since it was elected in 2019.  The government meanwhi...

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed white paper committees to dissect the reports of the Visitation Panels to the three public Colleges of Education and recommend to the government some specific course of action to change the fortune of the schools. The Governor had in October 2023 named the visitation panels to Colleges of Education Oro, Ilorin, and Lafiagi (Technical). The panels, which visited the different schools, submitted their reports in January 2024.
